Dear Students, Parents, and Staff,

A hot topic during the Coronavirus Pandemic is how to handle high school graduations in the time of social distancing.  Baltic School officials have given this much thought and have developed a plan for giving our graduates the recognition they deserve while at the same time utilizing mitigation to ensure the safety of all involved.  Attached to this message it the plan for Baltic High School Graduation that will take place on its scheduled date of Saturday, May 16, 2020.

I invite everyone to get creative in recognizing the many impressive accomplishments of our Baltic High School graduates.

Supt. Bob Sittig

Estimados estudiantes, padres y personal,

Dear Students, Parents, and Staff,

Yesterday, Governor Noem held a press conference concerning COVID-19, and in her remarks, she challenged local entities to make decisions and determine what is in the best interest of students and staff locally.  With her challenge in mind, the following is information on how Baltic Schools will proceed.

We do not believe resuming education on-site for a short period of time is in the best interest of students or staff, and therefore, we will continue to educate students via distance learning through May 21 – the final student day of the 19-20 school year.

In accordance with Governor Noem's statements, some individual exceptions may make sense for students and staff.  Any changes will be communicated with affected students, staff, and families.

Ending the school year will be much different than in a typical year.  Seniors have been notified of how their year will end, and very shortly, a message will go out explaining how graduation will be handled.

For grades K-4, the last packet will go out on May 11th, unless the teacher provided two weeks work in a previous packet, and the packets should be returned on May 18th.  For the final three days, teachers may provide ungraded activities and conduct virtual field trips.

For grades 6-12, the last assignments will be given on May 11th, work will be due on May 18th, and the final three days will be used for makeup work.

For all students, the information will be coming on how and when to return computers, textbooks, library books, and other school-owned materials.  How that will work will be determined closer to the time based on the most current recommendations of health and state officials.

This has been an interesting time.  The official last day of school is three weeks from today, and I encourage everyone to FINISH STRONG!

Planeamos tener los premios listos para ser recogidos el lunes 11 de mayo, pero eso se explicará más adelante en el Zoom.
