Baltic High School Announces Hall of Fame Class of 2024

Baltic High School is proud to announce the members of the Baltic High School Hall of Fame Class of 2024. Listed below are the recipients who were selected by the Hall of Fame Selection Committee for induction into the Baltic High School Hall of Fame. The Hall of Fame induction will take place at halftime of the Baltic Homecoming Football game on Friday, September 13th at approximately 7:45 pm.

John King – Class of 1989

John King was a solid two-sport athlete for the Baltic Bulldogs from 1985 to 1989.  He was a four-year letter winner in both football and track.  In football, John was selected All-Conference in 1986, 1987, and 1988.  He received the Sioux Falls area, Argus Leader “Ace of the Week” three times.  John was selected to the Argus Leader Elite 45 Football Team in 1988.  John’s greatest accomplishments came on the defensive side of the ball, where he had 308 tackles in his high school career.  He played defensive line as a freshman and sophomore.  John was a linebacker in his junior and senior seasons.  In 1988, John recorded 124 tackles, 15.5 per game.  He was Baltic’s Most Valuable Player in 1986, and 1988.  John was Baltic’s team captain in 1988.  In 1989, John ran the second leg of the 3200-meter relay team, which took second place at the South Dakota State Track Meet. John received a football scholarship to play linebacker at Huron University and graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree in Elementary Education.  He went into coaching right after college.  John has coached most of his career in Gregory South Dakota, where he has helped guide the Gorillas to seven State Championships appearances, winning four State Championships in 2014, 2016, 2017, and 2022.  He received SDFBCA (9AA) Assistant Coach of the Year in 2011 and 2017.  John received SDFBCA Region 7 Head Coach of the Year in 2019.  He was an assistant coach in the SDFBCA Football All-Star Game in 2021.  John and his wife Lisa are the co-founders of LTI Football Camps and reside in Gregory, South Dakota. 

Andrea Schultz – Class of 1997

Andrea Schultz was a talented multi-sport athlete who achieved success in basketball, volleyball, and track. In basketball, Schultz was a four-year letter winner and three-year starter. She helped the team in winning back-to-back State B Championships in 1995 & 1996, while also making the 1996 State B All-Tournament Team. Andrea was named All-Conference in 1995 & 1996, selected for the All-Star Team, and played a significant role on the 1996 team that set a national record for team field goal percentage in a season. In volleyball, Schultz was a four-year letter winner and three-year starter. She was named All-Conference and voted most valuable player in 1997. In track, Schultz was a six-year letter winner, and 4-year state meet qualifier and earned a total of 129 medals. In 1996, she was named All-Conference, selected as the Class B Outstanding Female Athlete at the Dan Parker Relays and was named most valuable. Schultz held the school record in the long jump from 1996 until it was broken in 2023. Schultz also obtained a varsity letter in cross country and was a state meet qualifier in 1991. Schultz was named Female Athlete of the Year 2 times, named to the lists of Who's Who Academically and Who's Who in Sports 4 times, was a three-year American Scholar, and a two-year member of the National Honor Society. Andrea was also awarded the SDHS Girls Sports ELITE 15 award in 1997. During her years at Baltic, she was also active in Band, Chorus, and FFA earning Star Greenhand and Outstanding Sophomore awards.
